Koneenica Banerjee and Ambarish Bhattacharya will be seen opposite each other in Avijit Sen’s family drama Projapoti. The duo will be seen as the daughter and son-in-law of Mithun Chakraborty, who is all set to pair up with Mamata Shankar after more than four decades. The film that is produced by Atanu Raychaudhuri and Dev will also feature the latter as the son of Mithun.

According to the makers, Projapoti is a story of a father-son relationship. Ambarish is clearly excited to work with Mithun. In an interview with Anandabazar Patrika, the actor said that Mithun came and introduced himself after watching his television show, Raja And Goja.

Meanwhile, Koneenica has earlier worked with the team in Avijit’s Tonic which features Dev and Paran Bandyopadhyay in the lead.

The producer and co-writer of the film Atanu Raychaudhuri is excited about the casting as well. He said that convincing Mithun and Mamata Shankar to work together was nothing short of an achievement for him. “I think this film has the biggest casting in recent times. Mithun and Mamata Shankar are veteran actors and are very selective about their work. It is a proud moment for me to be able to convince both of them to work together on my film. I am also honoured that they agreed,” Atanu said. Mithun and Mamata Shankar worked together in Mrinal Sen’s Mrigayaa in 1976.

Talking about the Projapoti, Atanu said, “It is a family drama that revolves around a father and his son. Like all my films, this is also a simple narration. Avijit and I have penned it together and We hope it will work well among our audience.”

The film will go on the floors on July 5 and is scheduled to get released in winter.
