Kousalya Supraja Rama Telugu OTT release: Where to watch Darling Krishna’s hit romantic drama

Directed by Shashank, the 2023 Kannada original Kousalya Supraja Rama paired Krishna with Brinda Acharya and Milana Nagaraj in a tale about male chauvinism.

The 2023 Kannada film Kousalya Supraja Rama was director Shashank’s first collaboration with Love Mocktail hitmaker Darling Krishna. The film, according to Shashank, was an exploration of male chauvinism, an oft ignored issue that is also normalised in most parts of India. It was meant to be the filmmaker’s attempt at presenting a female perspective about the perils of male chauvinism, based on personal experiences of his own behaviour towards women in the family, as well as instances he has seen in society at large.

Kousalya Supraja Rama headed to ETV Win

Released in theatres in July 2023, the film had a 50-day run, following which it dropped on Amazon Prime Video, with Kannada audio only. A Telugu-dubbed version of the film is coming out now and will be on ETV Win on February 27, 2025. Kousalya Supraja Rama also stars Rangayana Raghu, Sudha Belawadi, Achyuth Kumar, Milana Nagaraj, Brinda Acharya, Nagabhushan, among others, and features music by Arjun Janya.

Krishna plays Rama in the film, a young man who is brought up amid toxic masculinity by his father Siddegowda (Rangayana Raghu), with his mother, Kousalya (Sudha Belawadi) valiantly trying to impart good in her son. Siddegowda’s toxic traits rub off on Rama, whose behaviour with his girlfriend Shivani, drives her away. When Kousalya unexpectedly passes away, after suggesting that Rama ought to marry a girl of her choice, he decides to fulfil her last wish and in doing so, turns over a new leaf.

What happens when Rama marries Muthulakshmi (Milana Nagaraj), who gives him a taste of his own medicine. What becomes of their relationship forms the rest of the tale. During the promotions of the film, Krishna, who had a spate of failed movies after Love Mocktail had said that in his decade-long career, besides his own directorial, Kousalya Supraja Rama was the only other script that well and truly excited him . His wife, Milana was initially not keen to be cast with him yet again, but took up the role only upon Shashank’s insistence.
