Yes, I am. It has been quite some time since my last film ended as a big hit. Kondapolam disappointed one and all, and Hari Hara Veera Mallu did not work out. So, I have Ghaati, which is kind of a crowd-pleaser and is a proper action thriller.
It was a tough decision to make, but I had to do it. As the film was getting delayed time and again, I took a break and made Kondapolam. As things kept getting delayed further, I had no choice but to walk out, as it had already been five years with that project.
Yes, I watched Hari Hara Veera Mallu, and it is completely different from what I had imagined, and I do not blame anyone. When someone takes up the project, the film will have their touch and vision. So, whatever I saw had a different concept and storytelling.
I had an obligation to make a film with Anushka Shetty. That is when I came to know about these Ghaatis who operate in the Andhra–Odisha border and are drug peddlers. We developed the story of a female drug peddler and her redemption in life and narrated it to Anushka, and she loved the script and said okay right away.
Ghaati is my most commercial film to date. I have come out of my comfort zone and made a film with proper commercial aspects. Anushka will be seen in a completely new avatar, and the film has seven to eight proper action sequences, which the audience will love. Ghaati is a proper big-screen experience with pulsating action and solid emotions.
When I chose Anushka for the role of a sex worker, everyone was stunned. But the way she portrayed the role and made the film a solid hit was there for us all to see. Similarly, Ghaati might sound like a solid action drama for a star hero, and if I had done that, it would have sounded routine. That’s why I chose Anushka, who has a soft image. Her rebel avatar in the film will be the talking point once the film is released.
So many have asked why I have chosen Vikram Prabhu. He plays the character of Desi Raju and is amazing. His performance, screen presence, and dialogue delivery are top-notch in the film, and Vikram will shock one and all. Coming to Chaitanya Rao, I saw his performance in 30 Weds 21 and Mayasabha, and was taken aback and roped him in. These two actors will surprise one and all with their performances.
I am just eagerly waiting to see how the audience embraces Ghaati. I have worked hard and taken a new route to narrate my stories. The film has a different story, a great cast, amazing thrills, and solid emotions, which make the film a must-watch in theaters.
