Kshetrapati OTT release date: Naveen Shankar’s film on farmer suicides is finally getting a streaming premiere

Kshetrapati on OTT: More than 2 and half years after its theatrical outing, Naveen Shankar’s film is OTT bound. The film had received positive reviews, but did not quite work at the box office.

In February 2024, there was a buzz that actor Naveen Shankar’s solo lead project Kshetrapati had found a streaming destination 6 months after its theatrical release. The rumours, though, turned out to be false. It was later heard that the streaming rights had been picked up by JioCinema (now JioHotstar), but there was no news of when it would drop. It’s now been announced that Kshetrapati will begin streaming on JioHotstar (available via OTTplay Premium also) on February 26, 2026.

What is Naveen Shankar's Kshetrapati about?

Directed by debutant Shrikant Katagi, Kshetrapati received praise for having its heart in the right place in highlighting a very pertinent issue – one plaguing farmers across the country – in the face of corruption, threat of corporatization and more. With returns on investment remaining low and mounting debts, every now and then there’s news of a farmer whose taken his own life, unable to cope with the situation.

Shrikanth’s film picked up this subject, with Naveen’s character Basavaraj, a final year engineering student and son of a farmer, having to give up his dreams of migrating to the US, when his father takes the drastic step. Back home, Basavaraj realizes that his father is one of many and is shell-shocked at the situation most of them find themselves in. Determined to help them to get what it rightfully theirs, Basavaraj leads a crusade against the powers that be. But in a world where money and power speak, will their voices be heard?

Featuring music by KGF fame Ravi Basrur, Kshetrapati also stars Archana Jois, Harsh Arjun, Rahul Ainapur, Achyuth Kumar, Krishna Hebbale, Natya Ranga, among others. Naveen was last seen in 2025’s Nodidavaru Enantare, which, yet again, won the actor a lot of praise for his performance. The latest buzz about the actor is that he’s a part of Yash’s Toxic, after netizens spotted that he and directed Geetu Mohandas had begun to follow each other on social media.
