Kshetrapati on OTT: Director Shrikant Katagi’s debut directorial about the agrarian crisis, starring Naveen Shankar, Archana Jois, among others, has dropped on OTT.

Actor Naveen Shankar was steadily making a name for himself as a performer to look out for with films like Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage, Hondisi Bareyiri and even Gurudev Hoysala, in which he played an antagonist, when he returned with a leading man role in Kshetrapati . The directorial debut of Shrikant Katagi, Kshetrapati, set in north Karnataka, took a deep dive into the problems faced by the farming sector and explored how one man sets out to find a solution. Though well intentioned, the film was said to be overly sentimental in treatment and did not work well at the box office.
From the latest Kannada series Raakshasa to films like Kshetapati, Mark, 45, Su From So, Elumale and more; watch them all with OTTplay Premium.
Released in August 2023, Kshetrapati has been able to make its OTT debut only now and is currently streaming on JioHotstar (available via OTTplay also). It dropped as of February 26, 2026. The film, which features music by KGF fame Ravi Basrur, also stars KGF’s Archana Jois, who was paired with Naveen in Hondisi Bareyiri as well, Rahul Ainapur, Achyuth Kumar, Krishna Hebbale, Harsh Arjun, Natya Ranga and Shailashree Urs.
The film follows Naveen’s character Basavaraj Hadimane, an engineering graduate in the making with US dreams. But that is not to be when Basava loses his father, after the latter takes his life unable to cope with the mounting burden of agriculture loans and diminished returns on produce, what with corporate companies offering only a pittance to buy their goods.

With the local politicians in cahoots with the corporate giants, Basava realizes that the only way to ensure that farmers get their due is by kickstarting a revolution and having them sell directly, instead of involving big corporates. Of course, the politicians and corporates do not hand over control so easily and there is a tussle. Will Basava be successful in convincing the powers that be to offer farmers fair prices and avert future crises in the agrarian sector?
