Kuberaa ended as a smash hit at the box office. Directed by Shekhar Kammula, the film featured Dhanush, Akkineni Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. We at OTTplay were the first ones to reveal that Amazon Prime Video had bagged the digital rights for a fancy price and would stream the film within a month of its release.

Kuberaa is a smash hit on OTT

Kubera hit the screens on June 20, 2025, and premiered on OTT from July 18, 2025, within a month of its theatrical release. Now that Kubera is streaming online, various scenes from the film have gone viral. One of the most talked-about scenes is where Dhanush, who is on the run, disguises himself as a beggar and starts asking for money at India Gate in Mumbai. He does this to help the small children seen begging on the streets.

The way the scene was conceived, directed, and performed by Dhanush won the hearts of many. Even after the film’s theatrical run, this scene has been a major talking point, and now that it's available on OTT, even more people are appreciating Dhanush’s performance. Known for his National Awards, many say his emotional portrayal in that scene makes him deserving of another National Award for Kuberaa.

Chiranjeevi, who watched the film, expressed high praise for Dhanush and also stated that Dhanush deserves a national award for Kuberaa. With so many praising his performance, it remains to be seen if Dhanush will secure the honour. Produced by Asian Cinemas on a massive scale, Kuberaa had a high budget. To ensure profits, the makers sold the digital rights for a premium price and agreed to an early OTT release.

Rashmika Mandanna is also being praised for her natural performance. After her success in Pushpa and Animal, she plays a supporting role in Kuberaa, and her combination scenes with Dhanush have become a talking point.

Sekhar Kammula silences his critics

Shekhar Kammula, known for soft romantic films, stepped out of his comfort zone to direct this social drama. Kuberaa tells the story of four beggars who are roped into a massive crime. Dhanush’s character, one of the beggars, escapes and drives the plot forward.

Akkineni Nagarjuna also played a key role as a CBI officer and received praise for his impactful performance. With over 100 million streaming minutes already clocked, Kubera is in no mood to slow down.
