Tamil cinema may not have had the best of start in 2025, but the Manikandan-starrer family drama Kudumbasthan became the audience favourite. The film, which released in January, is now gearing up for its digital premiere. ZEE5 has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film.

After delivering back-to-back hits with Good Night and Lover, actor Manikandan starred in the Tamil family drama titled Manikandan which hit theatres last month on January 24. The film quickly resonated with audience, and soon became a blockbuster success.

Now as per reports, the film is gearing up for a digital release. While we had earlier reported that ZEE5 has bagged the digital streaming rights, Kudumbasthan is expected to premiere on February 28. However, an official release date is yet to be announced by the makers. Once the film debuts on ZEE5, you can use your OTTplay Premium subscription to watch the film.

The film is directed by Rajeshwar Kalisamy in his directorial debut. The filmmaker penned the script and screenplay along with actor Prasanna Balachandran, who played a pivotal role in the film.

What is Kudumbasthan all about?

As the title suggests, the film will revolve around a married man who is boggled by many issues and how he runs his errands amid his responsibilities and pressure. The film is told in a light-hearted way, and laced with healthy humour.

The cast of Kudumbasthan is led by Manikandan who is supported by Saannve Megghana, Guru Somasundaram, director R Sundarajan, Prasanna Balachandran, Kanakamma of Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey fame, Jenson Diwakar and others. The film is produced by Vinoth Kumar under Cinemakaaran banner. The technical crew consists of Sujith N Subramaniam cranking the camera and Kannan Balu handling the edits.
