Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has had a terrific year at the box office this year, with two blockbuster releases - L2 Empuraan and Thudarum. Lalettan fans got another reason to cheer with his next project announced, L365 which will see him in the role of a cop again. The film is produced by Ashiq Usman, who has given some tidbits of information about the exciting project, including whether it is a comedy thriller.

Mohanlal’s L365

Mohanlal’s upcoming Malayalam film, tentatively titled L365, is being directed by Austin Dan Thomas. The banner of Ashiq Usman Productions is backing this film. In a recent interview with The Cue Studio, soon after the project was announced, Ashiq Usman shared his excitement about the Mohanlal-starrer.

Speaking about the genre of the film, Ashiq said, “If you ask if this is a comedy film, it has everything. This has humour. And if you ask whether it is thriller, it can also be said like that," he said, adding that anything more can be said at the time of the release.

Mohanlal as a cop in L365

The producer, who had earlier backed films such as Asif Ali-starrer Vijay Superum Pournamiyum and Tovino Thomas’ Thallumaala, further said that Mohanlal is doing a police character after a long time.

Notably, L365 marks the directorial debut of Austin Dan Thomas, who has acted in Vijay Superum Pournamiyum and Thallumaala. Retheesh Ravi has penned the script of the upcoming film. Mohanlal himself had announced the project on July 8 and also dropped the first poster. Other details about the cast and crew are not known.

Where to watch Mohanlal’s latest films on OTT

Mohanlal’s first theatrical release of 2025 was L2 Empuraan, the much-anticipated sequel to the hit film Lucifer. Prithviraj Sukumaran was back as the director for the the second installment in the Lucifer franchise, also featured Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier and several other actors.

His next release was Thudarum, helmed by Tharun Moorthy. The film, a revenge thriller, also featured Prakash Varma, a popular filmmaker, as the main villain. Both L2 Empuraan and Thudarum are available for streaming on JioHotstar and OTTplay Premium.
