After a decent 50-day run in theatres, Krishna Ajai Rao's courtroom drama Yuddhakaanda Chapter 2 has made its way to OTT

A theatrical release is a must for the few OTT platforms that do host Kannada films to consider picking up titles. If the reviews and audience feedback is positive, chances are that they get a shot at a streaming deal, but this year, only a tenth of the films that released have made it.

Krishna Ajai Rao's second production venture has him in the role of a lawyer, fighting to secure the freedom of a young mother, Niveditha (Archana Jois), who is on trial after shooting dead the guy who had brutally assaulted her young child and left the little one comatose. Can he get Niveditha justice after all? The film also stars Prakash Belawadi and TS Nagabharana in pivotal roles.

Gultoo fame director Janardhan Chikkanna's latest is a murder mystery set in a sleepy Malnad village, Nalkeri, in the late 90s. A crime-free village, Nalkeri is home to a bunch of simpletons, including the police inspector, who spends more time farming than policing. When a death occurs in Nalkeri, the inspector suspects foul play. How he proves his theory forms the crux of the film. Rangayana Raghu leads the film and is joined by Ravishankar Gowda, Pavana Gowda, Siddu Moolimani, Sharath Lohithashwa, Arvind Kuplikar, among others.

Century Star Shivarajkumar's daughter Niveditha Shivarajkumar's maiden feature film production, Firefly, marked the directorial debut of Vamshi, who also played the protagonist, Vivekananda aka Vikky, in the film. The film was an exploration of the several stages of grief as experienced by Vikky, as he deals with the loss of his parents and the sudden feeling of loneliness, despite being surrounded by well-meaning extended family members. The film made its way to OTT a month after its theatrical release

Daali Dhananjaya's fourth production venture had Nagabhushana in the lead as Siddu, the money-hungry husband of superstar Vidya (Malaika Vasupal of Upadhyaksha fame), whose craze for all things luxury and an altercation with a thug lands him in trouble. Forced to relook his ways and learn to fight for what is his - Vidyapati is about Siddu's journey of self discovery. The film is available on two platforms.

Yogaraj Bhat's philosophical love story Manada Kadalu starring Sumukha, Rashika Shetty and Anjali Anish, revolves around Sumukha (Sumukha), an MBBS dropout, who is on a path of self-discovery, and then meets Rashika (Rashika Shetty), a budding cricketer. While he's besotted, she does not reciprocate the feelings, and her friend, archaeologist Anjali (Anjali Anish), carries a torch for him.

Vaamana, directed by Shankar Raman had Dhanveerrah play Guna, the henchman to a local businessman for all the dirty work that the boss needs done. Although a hardcore mass action commercial film with a fair dose of violence and bloodshed, Vaamana also included family drama and romance, with Reeshma Nanaiah the romantic interest. The mother-son sentiment between Dhanveerrah and Tara, who played his mother, was one of the highlights of the film.

Prajwal Devaraj's first horror film had him collaborate with Lohith of Mummy Save Me and Devaki fame. The film had Prajwal as a former cop, called in to do a favour for a superior officer, who then gets stuck at a station where a Brahmarakhasa is inadvertently set free. Stuck in a time loop, he has to figure out how to get the better of the demonic power and survive this ordeal
