The dull phase in Kannada cinema is far from over, what with IPL still on. Smaller films are hitting theatres, most with absolutely no promotions and audiences remaining unaware that there are new Kannada movies in cinema halls.

Here's a look at the Kannada original and dubbed films releasing in theatres and on OTT in the week of March 31 to April 6.

Nimde Kathe

In director Raghavendra Raj’s film, Vikram (Abhilash Dalapathy), an insurance manager, navigates a mix of hilarious and serious situations brought on by his own decisions, pushing him to move forward in life. The film also stars Rashika Shetty, Reshma V Gowda, Manohar Gowda, Sihi Kahi Chandru.

Nimbiya Banada Myaga - Page - 1

Nimbiya Banada Myaga follows Varalakshmi, a zamindar widow whose son Achanna vanishes after her husband’s mysterious death. Achanna’s whereabouts remain unknown for 25 years and when he returns, long-buried secrets and emotions resurface. Starring, Shanmukha Govindaraj, Ramakrishna, and Padma Vasanthi.

Mahavatar Narsimha

Director Ashwin Kumar’s animated film follows Lord Vishnu’s half lion-half man avatar Narsimha, as he takes on the demon Hiranyakashyap. The film is being presented in theatres by Hombale Films.

Test

A sports drama, starring R Madhavan, Siddharth, Meera Jasmine and Nayanthara, Test is releasing directly on OTT. It marks the directorial debut of S Sashikanth, who’s also written the film. It will be available with Kannada audio option.

Kaafir

The 2019 8-part web series directed by Sonam Nair and starring Dia Mirza and Mohit Raina is getting a film version. Based on a true story, the series a woman from Pakistan-administered Kashmir who winds up on the Indian side of the Line-of-Control (LOC), and is held prisoner under the suspicion of being a militant. After seven years in imprisonment, she is helped by an Indian journalist, in getting justice.
