It’s the last week of November and while there’s a steady stream of new Kannada films set for theatrical release, the bigger draw is, undoubtedly, the star-led movies like The Devil, 45 and Mark, which will be out in December. Until then, here’s what audiences have got to contend with.

Green

Director Raaj Vijay’s psychological drama, starring Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Balaji Manohar, RJ Vikki, among others, explores a man’s intense struggle with paranoid schizophrenia. Gopalkrishna is Mayanna, whose internal demons manifest as external threats. The film follows him as he tries to figure out the boundaries between reality and his delusions.

Ronny

Kannadathi fame actor Kiran Raj’s 2024 release Ronny is finally heading to OTT. Directed by Gurutej Shetty, the film delves into the dark underbelly of the criminal world, presenting a gritty tale of ambition, crime, and redemption. The film also stars Samiksha, Apurva, P Ravi Shankar, Ugramm Manju, Yash Shetty, Dharmanna Kadur, among others.

Mass Jathara

Ravi Teja’s latest action flick, which reunited him with Dhamaka co-star Sreeleela turned out to be box office dud that did not survive even a week in theatres. Nevertheless, the film managed a streaming deal and will be on OTT this week, in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, as per a 4-week deal. The Hindi version will drop later.

Pet Detective

Sharaf U Dheen’s comedy film, directed by debutant Praneesh Vijayan, was not a runaway hit, but fared better than the other two, Theatre and Paathirathri, that released along with it in theatres. Sharaf U Dheen was paired with Anupama Parameswaran in the film, in which he played an amateur detective, who goes from handling petty crimes to finding pets and, then, dealing with the international mafia. The film also stars Vinayakan, Vinay Forrt, Shyam Mohan, Joemon Jyothir, Major Ravi, Shobi Thilakan and Vijayaraghavan. The Malayalam original film will be available with Kannada audio as well.

Bank of Bhagyalakshmi

Dheekshith Shetty, who is currently riding a popularity wave, owing to the success of his film The Girlfriend with Rashmika Mandanna, is seen as the leader of a gang of amateur thieves, who lay siege on the Bhagyalakshmi Cooperative Society, only to find that the bank has only Rs 66,999 in its strong room. The film also stars Brinda Acharya, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Sruthi Hariharan and Ashwin Rao Pallaki, among others.

Ghosts in Trouble (GST)

Kannada’s Talking Star Srujan Lokesh makes his directorial debut with the horror comedy Ghosts in Trouble. Srujan too embarks on a bank heist in this horror comedy, albeit in the company of a bunch of ghosts. Srujan is Lucky, who, after the death of his mother, reaches breaking point. Just when he is about to give up, a group of quirky ghosts appear and gives him a new sense of direction. Also starring Rajani Bharadwaj, Sharath Lohithashwa, Girija Lokesh, Giri Shivanna, among others.

FLIRT

Actor Chandan turns to direction with the romantic comedy Flirt, which pairs him with Nimika Ratnakar. Chandan has revealed little about the film, in which he plays a young man who enjoys flirting with different women. The film also stars Giri Shivanna, Vinay Gowda and Sadhu Kokila.
