It is once again a dry week for Tamil cinema, which has not capitalised on the Easter weekend, give major Tamil releases are all lined up for the second half of the year. While the first half saw the releases like Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly, all the biggies like Thug Life, Coolie are coming up with the second half. Having said that, here are some of the releases you can catch up on streaming platforms and theatres this week, in Tamil.

Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 – Prime Video (April 24)

Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 is headlined by Vikram and directed by SU Arun Kumar. The film also features Dushara Vijayan, SJ Suryah and Suraj Venjaramoodu in prominent roles. Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 is a rustic action drama revolving around the egoistic rivalry between a cop and powerful man in the village, between whom the protagonist is caught. The Anniyan star's performance was greatly appreciated.

L2 Empuraan – JioHotstar (April 24)

L2 Empuraan is the second instalment in the Lucifer trilogy and stars Mohanlal in the lead role. The film is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, with story by Murali Gopy. Empuraan is an action thriller, and also stars Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith, Suraj Venjaramoodu and others. It is one of the highest grossing Malayalam films of this year.

Gangers – Theatres (April 24)

After giving successes like Aranmanai 4 and Madha Gaja Raja, director Sundar C is once again back with Gangers for which he will team up with Vadivelu after a long time. Sundar C plays a PT master in the film, which also stars Catherine Tresa. Gangers is touted to be a commercial entertainer, much like other Sundar C films.

Sumo – Theatres (April 25)

Sumo is an upcoming sports comedy film starring Mirchi Shiva, Yoshinori Tashiro, and Priya Anand in leading roles. Directed by SP Hosimin, the entertainer is about a sumo who gets washed up on the shore in Chennai. With an IQ level of a child, the sumo gets attached to a local man. Actors VTV Ganesh, Chetan, Besant Ravi, Srinath, Yogi Babu are also part of the film. Shiva and Priya have earlier shared screen space in the romantic comedy Vanakkam Chennai , and Kasethan Kadavulada.
