It’s the new year, and the festive atmosphere is still lingering. For Tamil cinema at least, the best is yet to come, with Pongal around the corner. Many Tamil films are slated for release, along with only a few OTT releases.

Vanangaan – Theatres (January 10)

Vanangaan is headlined by actor Arun Vijay, with veteran filmmaker Bala helming the project. With music by GV Prakash Kumar, the film’s cast also includes Roshni Prakash, Samuthirakani, Mysskin, Ridha, Chhaya Devi, Bala Sivaji, Shanmugarajan, Yohan Chacko, Kavitha Gopi, Brindha Sarathy, Mai Pa Narayanan, Aruldas, Munish Sivagurunath and others. Vanangaan is an action drama.

Game Changer – Theatres (January 10)

Game Changer is a political action thriller directed by Shankar. The Tamil-Telugu-Hindi project stars Ram Charan in dual roles, with Kiara Advani as the female lead. Actors Anjali, SJ Suryah, Samuthirakani, and others are part of the film. Game Changer has music by S Thaman. It revolves around an upright IAS officer’s battle against a corrupt politician.

Madraskaaran – Theatres (January 10)

Madraskaaran stars Shane Nigam in the lead role, and is directed by Vaali Mohan Das. It features an ensemble cast including actors Kalaiyarasan, Niharika Konidela, Aishwarya Dutta, Karunas, Pandiarajan, and others. The film is expected to be an action drama loaded with emotions, in which Shane will play a Tamil boy from Pudukottai. With Prasanna cranking the camera, the upcoming film has music scored by Sam CS.

Madha Gaja Raja – Theatres (January 12)

After being in the can for almost 13 years, Madha Gaja Raja starring Vishal in the lead role is all set to hit theatres. The film is a commercial entertainer directed by Sundar C. With music by Vijay Antony, the cast includes Anjali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Santhanam and others. Madha Gaja Raja is produced by Gemini Film Circuit.

Vera Maari Trip – Aha Tamil (Pongal)

With the second season of Vera Maari Office coming to an end, Aha Tamil has announced a new show on the same lines titled Vera Maari Trip. The series stars Jaiseelan, VJ Pappu, Raveena Daha and others. The show is created and produced by RJ Shivakanth, with Jaswini directing it.

Bigg Boss Tamil season 8 – Disney+ Hotstar (ongoing)

The eighth season of Bigg Boss Tamil is nearing its finale, with contestants competing against each other for the ticket to finale. Vijay Sethupathi is hosting the show, and the winner of the show will be revealed in the coming few weeks. Jacqueline, Pavithra Janani, Arun Prasath, Vishal, Deepak, Manjiri, Muthukumaran, Raayan, Raanav, and Soundarya are the remaining contestants in the show at present.
