As season 3 of the show comes to an end tomorrow, must the lead protagonist die in order to save the Salvatore school?,

Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson
With premonitions and signs not looking good, Hope Mikaelson is in for a rough ride as Legacies gears up for its final showdown on Wednesday. The show, which is currently in its third season, revolves around the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, specifically focusing on the two main characters of Hope and Landon Kirby.
It is a spinoff of The Originals, which itself was a spinoff of the popular show The Vampire Diaries. Having an extra humour element unlike its predecessors, Legacies has been a moderate hit since inception. Thus, this turning point might be just what the show needs to spice things up.
Malivore has been a constant threat to the Salvatore school and all things supernatural since the beginning of the series. Created by a unification of the blood of three ancient beings, the witch, vampire and werewolf, Malivore was designed to engulf supernatural beings into an abyss of darkness, except its three creators, who were supposed to destroy him after the threats were removed. However, fate turned the tables and Malivore terminated them with the help of humans.
Throughout the show, it has been mentioned time and again that one with the power of the three breeds, will be able to defeat Malivore. Born to vampire-werewolf hybrid parents, and having an exceptionally powerful witch as her grandmother, Hope is the only known tribrid, a being of immense power. As a result, she is the last barrier that stands against this monstrosity. But there’s a catch, her vampire powers are still inactivated. To unlock her full potential as a tribrid and destroy Malivore once and for all, she must die, snatching away her chance to have a family.
This ultimate twist has been teased for over three seasons now, and finally it may happen tomorrow in the season finale. This plot arc is necessary not only for Hope to become a true tribrid, but also to take things up a notch in Legacies and move it from being a romantic story to one that is supernatural in all senses, similar to its prequels. But no doubt, whatever happens one thing is for sure – our eyes will remain glued to the screens.
