Liger star Vijay Deverakonda has stated he wants to collaborate with acclaimed music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja for a film. It all started when the Viruman composer wished the Liger team, a huge success on his social media handle. Sharing a still from the film, Yuvan had written, "Best wishes to team #Liger on the release tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜Š @studio9_suresh @TheDeverakonda @ananyapandayy @karanjohar #PuriJagannadh @apoorvamehta1 @DharmaMovies @PuriConnects (sic)."

To which Vijay Deverakonda replied saying that he wanted to collaborate with the composer for a film. "Yuvannnnn โค๏ธ We need to collab soon ๐Ÿค— Thank you for the wishes! (sic), "he wrote.

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday's Liger, which is helmed by Puri Jagannadh released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi today worldwide. Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular character, a kickboxer with a stutter, who fights against all odds to make his mark in the sports action drama. Liger also stars boxing legend Mike Tyson in a special appearance. The supporting cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Makarand Deshpande and Ali.

But despite the aggressive promotions across the country by the lead star cast, the film has opened to negative reviews. While Vijay's transformation into a MMA fighter has been appreciated by the fans, many have trashed the film as a lucklustre one with a formulaic story, where the Liger doesn't roar and thus, fails to make any impact on the audience. Some have even termed the film the endgame of director Puri Jagannadh.

Though Vijay Deverakonda was supposed to be the next big star from the south to make a pan-India impact with the film, the negative reviews has become a huge setback for the actor. Ananya Panday's role, too, has dismissed as just as an eye candy, who has nothing much to do in the film. Liger marks Ananya's debut in Tollywood.
