Likith Shetty on Full Meals: I took all creative decisions; fate of film rests entirely on my shoulders

Kannada actor Likith Shetty realized quite early on in his career that producers seemed reluctant to front him as a leading man and that the only solution was for him to bankroll his films. “My gut feeling is that when I am involved in a project more than as only an actor, I think it does a lot better. When I produce a film, I have complete control, which was part of my terms and conditions with Full Meals director Vinayaka as well,” said Likith during the pre-release event of the film, which hits theatres on November 21.

Likith Shetty on how he worked out his agreement with director N Vinayaka

The actor-producer elaborates that the main tenet of their agreement is that he gets the final say on all creative decisions. “Tomorrow, irrespective of how the film fares at the box office, I take full responsibility of whatever the result is. Vinayaka agreed to this condition, but I was clear that I would not step on his toes either. Before finalizing any scene, if I was not entirely onboard, he’d have to convince me if he thought it was okay the way it was. Similarly, if I did not like something, I’d have to convince him why I felt that and that we needed to change it. That’s how we have worked on Full Meals,” adds Likith.

In Full Meals, Likith plays Lucky, a top-notch wedding photographer, who is called in to cover the pre-wedding photo-shoot of Pooja (Kushee Ravi). During the course of the shoot, Pooja begins to have feelings for Lucky, even as the makeup artiste Preethi (Thejaswini Sharma), also vies for his attention. Who does Lucky settle for eventually? That is what Full Meals is all about, says the actor, adding that he was on board the minute Vinayaka narrated the scene of Pooja falling for Lucky. “That bit convinced me that this would work and then we sat together to develop the rest of the plot,” he says.
