Lokah Chapter 1 on OTT: As Lokah Chapter 1 continues its successful theatrical run, there’s speculation galore about an impending OTT outing, while some say that no deal’s been finalized yet.

Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, director Dominic Arun’s modern-day reimagination of the tale of Kalliyankattu Neeli, led by Kalyani Priyadarshan, is steadily marching towards becoming the highest grossing Malayalam movie, and is tantalizingly close to the figures amassed by Mohanlal’s L2 Empuraan in early 2025. Despite this tremendous theatrical performance, there’s a strong buzz that Lokah will be on OTT shortly to capitalize on the momentum it has created among audiences.

Lokah on OTT: Deal or No Deal?

Although the film’s credit roll did not feature a mention of a digital streaming partner, within days it was said that Netflix has shown interest in the Onam hit. It was widely reported that the deal had been sealed, although the makers did not confirm any such development, presumably to ensure that the flow of footfalls to theatres is not stemmed. However, multiple industry trackers reckon that the film will follow an 8-week window on the platform. As such, it has been speculated that Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra will begin streaming on October 23, 2025.

In the absence of official word from the makers or the streamer, it’s also been said that even though an offer had been tabled, it was yet to be accepted. The team is apparently still weighing its options. Lokah Chapter 1 had released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, apart from the Malayalam original. Tamil and Telugu has contributed in the range of Rs 20 cr to Rs 22 cr so far, while the Hindi version has done negligible business, with netizens pointing out that the dubbing quality was sub par.

Lokah Chapter 1 also stars Naslen, Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Sandy Master, among others, with cameos by Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan, who have now been introduced as characters who will take the franchise forward. Chapter 2, for instance, will focus on Tovino as Michael, a Chathan. In all, there will be five films, with Dominic stating that he’ll need at least a year to develop the script of the next part.
