Pragya Kapoor’s next comes in the form of Maali, a film that offers a poignant narrative of climate change through the story of a young girl named Tulsi. The film’s trailer was launched recently by Vaani Kapoor at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

The trailer follows Tulsi, a young girl living amongst the calm of the mountains with her father. The girl is shown to have a very strong connection to nature, becoming plagued with worry over its destruction in the name of progress. Her life is turned upside down when she moves to the city and witnesses just how very little the regard for nature is there. As time goes by, Tulsi finds herself struggling due to the toll the move brings on her mental health.

Maali will premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on August 18.
