Maareesan is the latest Tamil release on OTT this week. Netflix, which had bagged the streaming rights of the film, premiered the thriller drama on Friday. Audiences across languages can stream the film in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam.

The film is written by Krishna Moorthy and directed by Sudheesh Sankar. It is about a petty thief named Daya who is freshly released from jail and quickly back to his thievery as he stumbles upon an old man handcuffed to the window of his house. Daya quickly learns that the man named Velayudham Pillai is suffering from Alzheimer’s and plans to rob him of his money by getting his ATM pin under the guise of giving him a lift. Maareesan, which initially takes the form of a road trip and conman story, soon turns into a social thriller drama with an unexpected twist. The true intentions of the characters are unveiled and the climax talks about a pertinent issue.
