Maarnami, the gangster drama starring Ritvvikk Mathad and Chaithra J Achar in the lead, was meant to release on November 21, but was then pushed ahead by a week to November 28. The film seemed all set for its theatrical outing, with the team even planning premiere shows ahead of the official release. However, as of November 25, the team took the decision to postpone the film yet again. No reason was furnished and, more importantly, no new release date was announced. As it stands, Maarnami has been postponed indefinitely.

Maarnami not to make November 28 release date

The production banner’s official social media handle posted about the postponement, a decision that was taken with careful consideration. “All premiere events scheduled stand cancelled,” it read, reiterating their commitment to delivering the best version of the film.

Considering that there is a big Telugu release (Akhanda 2) and then the first of the 3 major Kannada films closing out the year, The Devil, on December 12, Maarnami is unlikely to hit theatres then. December 19 is the Avatar week and then come 45 and Mark. It appears that the Ritvvikk-led film will likely move into the new year.

Set in coastal Karnataka, Maarnami is a gangster drama revolving around turf war, but also has a love story central to it. The film is based on a story by Sudhi Aryan, with Sonu Gowda, Suman, Prakash Thuminad, Jyothish Shetty, Swaraj Shetty, Roopa Varkady, and Chandrahasa Ullal, among others, also on the cast.

Even though Maarnami has now moved out of the November 28 slot, there are still quite a few films lined up for release, including Ghosts in Trouble and Flirt, which mark the directorial debuts of Srujan Lokesh and Chandan Kumar, respectively. Dheekshith Shetty’s comedy heist drama Bank of Bhagyalakshmi is also releasing this week.
