Who would have even thought that a film which hasn’t seen a daylight for about 12 years would save the festive season of Pongal for Tamil cinema, and also goes on to become the first blockbuster of 2025? Well, Madha Gaja Raja starring Vishal in the lead role, written and directed by Sundar C, released in January this year and went on to become a blockbuster success. But with almost two months since the release of the film, Madha Gaja Raja is yet to make its OTT debut.

Madha Gaja Raja OTT release: Why is there a delay for streaming debut of Tamil blockbuster?

Madha Gaja Raja is a 2025 Tamil film, directed by Sundar C. It stars Vishal, Santhanam, Anjali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and others. It released in theatres in mid-January for Pongal, after waiting for 12 years to hit big screens. But once it debuted in theatres, the film went on to become blockbuster success and commercially the only Tamil film which came for Pongal.

With about two months since the release of Madha Gaja Raja, the film is yet to be make its OTT debut. There has been no streaming platform which has been associated with the film so far. Does it mean, there are no takers for the Tamil film which proved successful for the first time in 2025? The makers of Madha Gaja Raja have not yet announced the OTT release date or partner either so far.

Madha Gaja Raja final box office collection

As per reports, Vishal and Sundar C’s film has collected nearly Rs 60 crore at the box office in total so far. The film has raced past the other Tamil releases of the Pongal season, like Vanangaan, Kadhalikka Neramillai and Nesippaya.

Produced by Gemini Film Circuit, Vijay Antony has scored the music for Madha Gaja Raja. Late Manivannan and Manobala are also part of the film. The film was hailed for its comic timing and performances of Santhanam as comedian.
