Roaring Star Sriimurali’s most-latest release, Madhagaja, which released in theatres only three weeks ago on December 3, has already found its way to a streaming platform. As of today, the film, which also stars Ashika Ranganath, Garuda Ram, Devayani, Anil, Jagapathi Babu, Chikkanna and Shivaraj KR Pete, among others, streams on Amazon Prime Video. So, if you missed watching it in theatres, you can catch it now.

Madhagaja is the story of Surya, an orphan who grows up among the pyres at the cremation ghat in Varanasi, who is accustomed to a life of violence. He finds his purpose in dealing in real estate that’s mired in litigation, taking care of any obstacles along the way. When one such deal brings him to a village in Karnataka, he not only gets caught in the territorial struggle that’s been going on for years, but also finds out that his connection to the place is more than he reckoned.

Speaking to us prior to the film’s release in early December, Sriimurali had said, “Madhagaja is a film about the relationship of a mother and son, which, I truly believe, will strike a chord with all mothers and sons.” The film was Ayogya maker Mahesh’s second directorial only. How was Sriimurali convinced that Mahesh could handle a film on the scale of Madhagaja? Even with the most brilliant script narration, there’s always the risk of the film faltering in execution. “When Mahesh narrated the script, I felt it was good. But as a team, we decided to change it around a bit, because it would be my follow-up project to Bharaate and had to be vastly different. I wanted to explore a new genre with Madhagaja. Prashant Neel, who turned my career around in 2014 with Ugramm, is a big part of my decision-making process, so I showed him the script. Prashant had some inputs, which Mahesh incorporated to get the best out of the script,” explained Sriimurali.
