Madharaasi, the recently released Tamil action thriller starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, is nearing the Rs 50 crore mark. As of now, the film has made Rs 48 crore in India before completing one week of theatrical release.

Madharaasi is a 2025 Tamil Sivakarthikeyan-starrer film which hit theatres last week. The film is written and directed by filmmaker AR Murugadoss. Madharaasi is an action thriller, marking the return of filmmaker AR Murugadoss to Tamil cinema after nearly five years since the release of Darbar.

As per Sacnilk report, Madharaasi has made Rs 48 crore (gross) so far as of six days, and is expected to close at Rs 50 crore by the weekend, if not for more. Madharaasi has opened majorly to favourable reviews from audience, and is currently the only major Tamil film that is running in theatres, even as it faces competition from Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. On a worldwide level, Madharaasi has made Rs 68.75 crore.

The post-theatrical streaming rights of Madharaasi have been bagged by Prime Video. After its theatrical, which is typically four weeks, the film is expected to stream on Prime Video. Subscribers of OTTplay Premium can top up their existing plan to avail Prime Video.

The film revolves around NIA’s efforts to thwart the terrorists’ attempt to smuggle guns into Tamil Nadu to propagate gun culture in the state. Madharaasi stars Sivakarthikeyan, Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Shabeer Kallarakal, Biju Menon and others. The action thriller has music by Anirudh Ravichander.

Madharaasi marks the first time Sivakarthikeyan and AR Murugadoss collaborated. While the action sequences were hailed in the film along with Vidyut Jammwal’s sleek performance, Madharaasi also got fair share of criticism for its inconsistent first half and love story.
