Bollywood’s iconic star Madhuri Dixit is currently gearing up for a dark character with JioHotstar’s special web series Mrs Deshpande. The Dhak Dhak girl is set to impress you as she plays a serial killer in the upcoming series. Recently, Madhuri opened up about her role and how she went inside the skin of the complex character that challenges the craft of an actor.

Madhuri Dixit on playing a serial killer in Mrs Deshpande

Mrs Deshpande is among the most-awaited thrillers of this week. Slated to release on JioHotstar (via OTTplay Premium) on December 19, the upcoming web series features Madhuri Dixit in the complex role of a convicted serial killer locked in a jail. In an interview with Zoom, Madhuri shared how she transitioned into the dark character to bring it alive that comes up with different layers, similar to onions.

"I'm excited for this one because Mrs Deshpande is a character with a lot of layers. She's like an onion and as you go from episode to episode, you're peeling off the onion... literally getting to know her and who she is," Madhuri told the news portal.

Madhuri further revealed that she didn’t take any inspiration from other characters because the titular character in Mrs Deshpande has its own uniqueness and psyche. “I think each character is unique and because Mrs Deshpande has her own story and her own thing so I had to delve into her life and delve into her psyche to create who she is," added the actress.

Later, Madhuri Dixit recalled an interaction with legendary painter MF Husain, in which he shared how an artist relies on his audience for the interpretation, like he is an artist, so it is from the viewer's POV, how they take it.

“I thought that was so real because we are artists, when we perform, it's up to the audience to interpret and connect with it. That's something that I learned from him," shared the Hum Aapke Hai Koun actress.
