Huma Qureshi and Sohum Shah's power-packed political drama is back with a sturdy sequel. Maharani season 2 is directed and created by Ravindra Gautam and Subhash Kapoor respectively. The show will be the continuation of the story from the first instalment that sees Rani Bharti turning into a powerful politician from an uneducated housewife.

The latest season will see Rani (Huma) competing with her own husband in order to maintain her power and position as the ruler of Bihar, who wants to work towards the betterment of the society, especially the helpless and lower-class people.

On August 1, the makers dropped the official trailer video of the upcoming series that showcases that Bheema Bharti (Sohum) is finally back in action after a long illness and rooting against his own wife in the battle of becoming the CM again in the next elections.

Meanwhile, the video also witnesses a few criminal incidents that are happening in the state due to caste and religion. The video also glimpses a few sensitive issues and realities of the society that will be raised and showcased in the show this season.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the makers dropped an interesting video that chronicles Rani Bharti's journey in the first season. Huma shared the latest curated montage on her official Instagram handle with a special caption that reads, "Rani se Maharani ki journey you all have witnessed… Now what will she do next ??? @sonylivindia @kangratalkies #Maharani #RaniBharti (sic)."

Written by the creator of the show himself along with Nandan Singh and Umashankar Singh, the political crime-drama series also features Amit Sial, Vineet Kumar, Pramod Pathak, Kani Kusruti, Anuja Sathe, Neha Chauhan, Sushil Pandey and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in key roles.

Maharani season 2 is slated to release on Sony LIV on August 25.
