Varanasi is one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema and is all set to hit the screens on April 7, 2027. The makers have started promotions quite early, and the main cast, Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaranm have given interviews to a few Hollywood media agencies.

Mahesh Babu opens up about his prep for Varanasi

Mahesh Babu has spoken at length about the film and his preparation for the Rajamouli biggie in one of the interviews. Mahesh revealed that he trained for six months just to shoot a single scene in the film.

“I have a particular style of running, and Rajamouli asked me to change it. For that, I was assigned a special coach, and I trained for six months to get the running style right,” revealed Mahesh.

The star hero also added that he knew there would be only one or two scenes centered around this aspect. “When I signed the film, I knew Rajamouli was up to something this big. I was very much prepared to go through the grind, and I am really enjoying the process. For months, I would just go to the set, learn how to run, and observe people doing their work. I was getting curious about when the shoot would take place, and when it finally did, it was only for one scene. That is Rajamouli for you,” said Mahesh Babu.

Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the main villain in the film, and his role is said to be quite special. Rajamouli is one director who highlights his villains to another level, and Prithviraj is expected to get the role of a lifetime in Varanasi.

On the other hand, Rajamouli has revealed that the makers initially planned to make the film in multiple parts, but it will now be released as a single part on the announced date.

The post-production work has already begun, and several companies across the world are handling the VFX. MM Keeravani has composed the music for the film, which also features Prakash Raj in a key role. Around 50% of the shoot has already been wrapped up, and a major schedule is currently underway in Hyderabad, where Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are shooting an action-packed sequence.

SS Rajamouli is known for making big films, but when it comes to promotions, he has taken things to another level. By giving interviews to Hollywood reporters years in advance and releasing them strategically, he has ensured that the film stays in the news.
