Indira Devi, veteran actor Krishna's wife and mother to actors Mahesh Babu, Manjula Ghattamaneni and late Ramesh Babu, is no more. After a prolonged illness, she breathed her last in the wee morning hours on Wednesday. She was 70. Krishna and Indira Devi had tied the knot in the early 60s before the former forayed into Telugu cinema. Ever since, she always shunned public attention and fame while holding the family together all these years.

Mahesh Babu, across several interviews, has proclaimed how his mother Indira Devi has been a major influence in his life. In fact, the star and his siblings even launched a banner named after her. Indira Productions was behind popular films like Nani, Pokiri, Show and Ye Maaya Chesave, with actor-producer Manjula Ghattamaneni holding the fort. Over the last decade, her health took a turn for the worse. Indira Devi's graceful support to the Ghattmaneni family was priceless, to put it mildly.

Upon hearing the news of her death, condolences began pouring in from several corners. Actors Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Pawan Kalyan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and several leading banners in Telugu cinema posted condolence messages across their social media handles earliter this morning. The industry and the fans of actors Krishna, Mahesh Babu will be paying their final respects at Padmalaya Studios, Hyderabad. The family has restricted the entry of media at Maha Prasathanam, where she'll be laid to rest.

His three daughters, Mahesh Babu and their families were by Indira Devi's side at Padmalaya Studios this morning. Mohan Babu, politician KTR, Rana Daggubati, Tammareddy Bharadwaja, Y Kasi Viswanath and several others from the industry who stood by the Ghattamaneni family at the studio today.Earlier this year, Indira Devi's eldest son Ramesh Babu had passed away owing to health issues. He was an actor, producer, mostly active in the late 80s and early 90s, also sharing screen space with his father Krishna and Mahesh Babu.
