Mamitha Baiju, who will next be seen in the Deepavali release Dude, has a pivotal role in Jana Nayagan, as well as in Suriya's next.

It was during the promotions of her hit film Premalu that Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju heard that Tamil superstar Vijay was pulling the plug on his acting career to dive headlong into active politics. Like most other actresses, Mamitha too harboured hopes of, someday, working with Vijay, and for a moment, she felt that all hope was lost.

But then, shortly after, the actress was approached for a pivotal role in Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, which is Vijay’s last acting gig. “I have no words to describe it. I feel grateful and blessed to be a part of the film. Acting with Vijay sir and sharing screen space with him will forever be one of the greatest achievements of my career,” said the actress, speaking to The Cue Studio, during the promotions of her upcoming Tamil film, Dude.
Mamitha adds that she is just as excited about Jana Nayagan, as she is about the unnamed film with Suriya, directed by Venky Atluri, especially since she’d missed out on working with the actor on Vanangaan. “It was disappointing, because I had set aside at least 9-10 months for Vanangaan. When it then did not happen, I was quite upset. But then, when I got another opportunity to work with Suriya sir and that too in an important role, it is a big deal,” the actress said.

Meanwhile, Dude, which releases for Deepavali on October 17 is a fun family entertainer, in which Mamitha is paired with Pradeep Ranganathan. It’s a film that the actress said gave her a lot of confidence, given that it has a mix of drama, comedy, mass moments, romance and more. She was approached by director Keerthiswaran only days after Premalu hit theatres.
