The first look poster of Mammootty’s next venture Bazooka has already piqued the curiosity of the audience. The poster, which was released online, had Mammootty’s character surrounded by a bunch of men who had their gun’s lasers pointing at him.

In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, the movie’s director Deeno Dennis, who is also set to make his debut with the Bazooka, tells us what to expect from the film. Ask if it’s a slick and stylish thriller as the poster hints at and Deeno says, “That is the crux of it but there are other elements too. It’s a thriller; I don’t want to reveal more. People will understand more about what a game thriller is once they watch the movie.”

The film also has Gautham Vasudev Menon and Shine Tom Chacko as part of the cast. “There are a bunch of actors, who we are currently in the process of confirming. The crew too comprises relatively young professionals including Nimish, Midhun Mukundan. Art director Aneesh Nadodi is working for the first time in a Mammootty-starrer. Nishad Yusef, who is the editor of Suriya 42, is also part of Bazooka,” says Deeno.

The movie is currently set to go on floors by April end. “Mammukka is now in Dubai and he should return for us to confirm the dates,” he says. Ask him if he’s nervous about the first day of shoot with him directoing Mammootty in his debut film and the director explains, “I will have jitters, no doubt. But the crew has been extremely supportive. Nimish is the backbone of this project and because he had worked with Mammukka in Rorschach, he is extremely comfortable.”

The movie is currently expected to be completed by July-August this year. “We are planning to shoot for about 90 to 100 days in Bengaluru, Kochi and Coimbatore,” Denno concludes. Meanwhile, Mammootty’s next release in Malayalam will be Jeo Baby’s Kaathal – The Core. The actor also has the Telugu action-thriller Agent lined up.
