While Mammootty has kept his birthday celebrations low key the past two years, it will be a double treat for the actor’s fans! The makers of the megastar’s upcoming thriller Rorschach are apparently zeroing in on his birthday, September 7 that also coincides with Onam this year.

This will be the megastar's first Onam release in over three years and the expectation for the film has already surged with the actor producing it and Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films apparently set to distribute the movie.

The film’s director Nisam Basheer had earlier told OTTplay that it will be a different type of thriller than the ones that Mammootty has been part of in recent times. The movie, which is scripted by Adventures of Omanakuttan and Ibilis scriptwriter Samir Abdul, is currently being shot in Dubai. The team had completed its Kerala portions earlier this month, after which Mammootty had left for Hyderabad to finish Agent. The actor joined the sets in the UAE on June 28.

Apart from Mammootty, the movie also has Sharafudheen, Grace Antony, Bindu Panicker, Jagadeesh and Kottayam Nazir in pivotal roles. There’s also rumour that Asif Ali, who had played the lead in Nisam’s debut directorial Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha might make a special appearance. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding this. Meanwhile, Mammootty did play a cameo in his Rorschach co-star Sharafudheen’s movie Priyan Ottathilanu, which released last week.

Mammootty also has completed shooting for Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. The team has apparently finished all work on the film and are keen to showcase the movie at the festival circuit before a theatrical release. The director and actor will team up again next month to complete a segment for the Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories.

The megastar also has B Unnikrishnan’s big budget action thriller set to go on floors in July.
