What is Masthishka Maranam movie about

A cyber punk comedy, Masthishka Maranam is set in the year 2046 in Neo Kochi. The film follows Bimal, who is struggling to come to terms with the loss of his daughter. His wife has wiped out the daughter’s memories, but Bimal is unable to do so. He instead seeks out near-death experiences of other people. One such attempt gives him access to an actress’ memory and ends up being a witness to a murder.

The film takes a dig at cinema, the voyeuristic media culture and more. Niranj Maniyanpilla plays Bimal, while Rajisha Vijayan is seen as the superstar actress. The film also has notable performances from Jagadish and Zhinz Shan. Divya Prabha, Rahul Rajagopal, Suresh Krishna, and Vishnu Agastya are also part of the cast.

Director Krishand, known for his distinctive style of filmography, delivers yet another notable project.

On the other hand, this is only the second Malayalam film of the year acquired by Netflix. Actor Rajesh Madhavan’s directorial debut, Pennum Porattum was released on the platform earlier this month.

Rajisha was last in the Malayalam film Kalamkaval, which starred megastar Mammootty in the role of a serial killer. Kalamkaval also starring actor Vinayakan as a cop, is streaming on SonyLiv.
