Deva Katta, the very popular director from Telugu cinema, has not been making films in recent years. Well, in one of his interviews, he revealed that he is making a web series on real-life politicians. The day has finally come, and he has announced his new gripping web series, titled Mayasabha.

Co-directed by Kiran Jaya Kumar, the series is about Nara Chandra Babu Naidu and late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, the kingpins of Andhra politics. Aadhi Pinisetty plays Chandrababu Naidu whereas talented actor Chaitanya Rao plays Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Deva Katta’s series goes back to the 90s when these two political parties, TDP and Congress, were on the rise in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The trailer starts with the famous Viceroy Hotel incident, where N.T. Rama Rao is all set to suspend his MLAs, and his son-in-law Chandrababu Naidu is ready to lead a revolution against him, removing him from the Chief Minister’s seat.

This is when the drama unfolds and Deva Katta showcases candid conversations between the characters of Chandra Babu and Rajasekhar Reddy. Not many know that both Chandrababu and Rajasekhar Reddy were once close friends and were initially in the same party. But the series is about how two close friends in politics became the biggest rivals in Indian politics and went their separate ways, and ended up becoming Chief Ministers in their own right.

All this has been showcased in a very compelling manner in the trailer. Aadhi Pinisetty plays Chandrababu Naidu, and for legal reasons, the names, characters, locations, and properties have been renamed. Telugu Desam’s political war with the Congress party during the 90s was one of the most discussed topics and has historical importance. Making a series on this background, especially by Deva Katta, gives a new high to the OTT space.

The production values of the series look impressive, and the way the drama is elevated is showcased superbly. Mayasbha also stars Srikanth Iyengar, Hindi actress Divya Dutta, Ravindra Vijay, Nassar, and a few others in crucial roles. Along with the trailer, the makers have announced that the series will be available from August 7, 2025, and will be available for streaming on Sony Liv. The makers have spent a lot of money on this project, and it clearly shows in the production, the visuals, the sets, the properties, and the locations. Everything looks top-notch. Everyone in Telugu states is aware of the history of between these two leaders what led them to part ways in the first place is showcased by Deva Katta in Mayasabha.
