Not much is known about Natarakshasa Daali Dhananjaya’s next, Once Upon a Time in Jamaligudda, which is set to release in theatres on September 9. The team has been quite tight-lipped about the subject of the film, which is set in a fictional place called Jamaligguda. While the film has been pegged as a romantic thriller that pairs Dhananjaya with Aditi Prabhudeva, and involves a fair bit of travel too, today, the team released two posters, featuring Dhananjaya and Yash Shetty as prisoners named Heroshima and Nagasaki, respectively. The film, we hear is set in the 90s, with Dhananjaya playing a staffer at a bar, while Aditi’s character works at a massage parlour. Why Dhananjaya’s Heroshima would end up in jail is a mystery that will be revealed when the film releases in theatres.

Yash, who is the antagonist in the tale, sports a look that is is quite intriguing, with the actor playing a character who is blind in one eye. “I wore contact lenses – one white to make me look blind in that eye and the other a lighter grey. It was quite a challenge acting and emoting with only one functional eye,” he says. While the actor has been forbidden from revealing anything more about the film or his character, he believes that Once Upon a Time in Jamaligudda will appeal to all audiences, as it has the right mix of class and mass elements.

Directed by Kushal Gowda, who made Kannadakkagi Ondannu Otti earlier, the film, produced by Sri Hari for Niharika Movies, also stars Prakash Belawadi, Bhavana Ramana, Triveni, Prakash Shenoy, among others. The film has been shot across locations in Chikkamagalur, Shivamogga, Bengaluru, Gokarna and Kudremukh, with music by Arjun Janya, cinematography by Karthik and dialogues by Maasti. The film has two songs, one each written by Jayant Kaikini and director Kushal and sung by Vijay Yesudas and Sonu Nigam.
