Director Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal’s collaboration Ram is gearing up to be their biggest yet. The action-thriller, which also has Indrajith Sukumaran, Adil Hussain and Trisha Krishnan, is set to resume shooting next month and if reports are to be believed, it’s now being planned to be released in two parts.

The movie, which is mounted on a big scale, began shooting in late 2019 and had completed its India portions by February 2020. Just when the team was set to leave abroad for its foreign schedule in the Middle East and the UK, the worldwide pandemic lockdown was announced that put the project on hold for two years due to the travel restrictions.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Jeethu had confirmed that the delay also worked to the advantage of the team. Both Jeethu and Mohanlal had worked in two movies since the pandemic – Drishyam 2 and 12th Man – and Malayalam cinema has gained a lot of attention and reach among the pan-Indian audience with the OTT boom.

This also helped the makers scale up the project, keeping in mind the potential of superstar-driven, action thrillers such as KGF: Chapter 2 has in worldwide box office. The team is set to resume shooting the movie in the UK as well as the Middle East in July. The makers are yet to officially confirm if Ram will be released in two parts, but considering the popularity of the Drishyam duo as well as its star cast that includes Adil Hussain and Trisha, along with a noted star, the movie will have a pan-Indian release.

Mohanlal is currently in Thailand shooting for a song for its directorial debut Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. He will join the team of Ram after he concludes the shoot of the film as well as Priyadarshan’s segment Olavum Theeravum in the upcoming Netflix anthology.
