The timing is also special as it marks Rajinikanth’s 50 years in cinema. And this ‘monumental milestone’ is not being celebrated just by Rajini fans, but stars from other industries are also showering praise on Rajinikanth or Thalaivar, truly one of the biggest stars that the country has ever seen. Stalwarts of Malayalam cinema - Mohanlal and Mammootty - have also heaped praise on the Tamil superstar, while also cheering for his upcoming film Coolie.

Mohanlal, Mammootty hail Rajinikanth’s 50 years in cinema

Rajinikanth, who has a legion of fans across the globe, cutting across languages, made his debut with the 1975 film Apoorva Raagangal, helmed by the acclaimed director K Balachander. Five decades and numerous blockbuster hits since, Rajinikanth is set for the release of Coolie in 2025.

Malayalam megastar Mammootty took to his Twitter account to congratulate the legend on completing 50 years in cinema “It was truly an honour to share the screen with you,” Mammootty penned on social media, while also wishing his very best for Coolie.

Another towering figure from Malayalam, Mohanlal, too spoke highly of the veteran actor as he lauded his 'monumental milestone'. “Fifty years of unmatched charisma, dedication, and magic on screen!” Thudarum star wrote in his heartfelt note to the ‘one and only Rajinikanth sir’.

Both Mammootty and Mohanlal have acted along with Rajinikanth in Tamil movies. While Mammootty starred with Rajinikanth in the iconic Thalapathi, Mohanlal appeared in the Tamil superstar ’s 2023 hit Jailer.
