Updates on Bharathanatyam's sequel Mohiniyattam

Bharatanatyam, which was directed by debutante Krishnadas Murali, was a success after its digital debut within weeks of its theatrical release. The film clearly emphasised that content is king and good family entertainer will always find the appreciation it deserves from the audience.

It is safe to assume that this appreciation has led to the announcement of a sequel, Mohiniyattam, which is currently being developed. Reports state that the movie will continue the storyline of Bharathanatyam but fall under an entirely distinct genre. With an eye on next year's theatrical premiere, the project's creators plan to start filming in November. In the upcoming months, more cast information should become available. Whether the remaining members of the original cast will appear in the follow-up is still unknown.

Bharathanatyam garnered praise following OTT debut

The comedy-drama is available to view on Manorama Max and Amazon Prime Video. Sashidharan, Bharathan Nair's eldest kid, is the subject of the film. When his father becomes ill and makes it his final wish to visit his second wife and son, his family struggles to maintain their good name and deal with the ensuing moral dilemmas. Despite the fact that Bharathanatyam narrative is not new, its engaging performances have garnered praise. The film also consciously tries to avoid overdoing the dramatic scenes with the characters.

The screenplay was written by the film's director. Sai Kumar, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Sreeja Ravi, Divya M Nair, Nandu Pothuval, Sohan Seenulal, Swathi Das Prabhu, Sruthy Suresh, and Manikandan Pattambi also have supporting parts in the movie.
