There have not been many Kannada releases in January 2026, but there are still exciting titles from the year gone by that are headed to OTT soon.

January 2026 had an interesting mix of Kannada original content on OTT. It began with Ekam , the web series that Rakshit Shetty had greenlit many years ago, but then could not find a platform to sell it to. The series had come out on their own platform in 2024, and then, Zee5 picked it up for release early this year. Then came the Christmas releases, Kiccha Sudeep’s Mark and the multi-starrer 45 , to JioHotstar and Zee5 respectively. All of these titles are available via OTTplay Premium too.

With the biggies out of the way, and barely any theatrical releases at the start of the year, what is there to look forward to on OTT? Well, there is a buzz that Darshan’s The Devil will be on OTT in February, while Duniya Vijay’s Landlord may also make it.
Director Prakash Veer’s The Devil released in theatres on December 11, 2025, in leading man Darshan’s absence. The film had a good opening, considering that it was Darshan’s first release since 2023’s Kaatera , but then it petered down, following middling reviews despite the actor’s dual roles. The Devil did not have its satellite or digital deals in place prior to the theatrical release, but was expected to be finalised shortly after. There was no news for a while, but now the buzz is that the makers may have secured a deal and that the film is likely to be on OTT closer to the actor’s birthday.

Jadeshaa K Hampi’s latest directorial venture, after Gentleman and Guru Shishyaru , is Landlord, starring Duniya Vijay in the lead, which hits theatres on January 23, 2026. The film, which also stars Raj B Shetty as the main antagonist, while Rachita Ram, Rithanya Vijay, Shishir Baikady, Umashree, among others have pivotal roles, is expected to be on OTT within a month, as has been the trend. Considering that Jadeshaa’s directorials have been picked up by Sun NXT and Zee5 in the past and Kaatera , which he co-wrote is also on the latter, one of these platforms will buy the rights.
