Most-awaited Kannada OTT releases in June 2025 on JioHotstar, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Sony LIV, Zee5

Yuddhakaanda, Rudra Garuda Purana and Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaaru among the films expected on OTT in June 2025

Nearly half the year gone, close to 100 theatrical releases and only a couple that have managed to bring audiences to movie halls – that’s been the state of the Kannada film industry in 2025 so far. It is, therefore, not surprising that a large number of these films have not even managed to strike a post-theatrical deal so far.

Yuddhakaanda Chapter 2

Krishna Ajai Rao’s second production venture, Yuddhakaanda Chapter 2, directed by Pavan Bhat, is down to only 1 theatre in Bengaluru and expected to make its way to OTT shortly. Released in theatres on April 18, the courtroom drama had a slow and steady growth and is one of the few films to have struck a chord with audiences. Industry trackers estimate that the film has grossed in the vicinity of Rs 5 cr to Rs 6 cr so far, with post-theatrical rights expected to get Ajai to break-even or even profit margins.

All of Ajai Rao’s best films (Krishnan Love Story , Krishnan Marriage Story , Krishna Leela) are on Sun NXT, so the assumption is that Yuddhakaanda Chapter 2 may also be headed there, but then, Prime Video is every Kannada filmmaker’s dream destination.

Rudra Garuda Purana

Kavaludaari and Nodi Swamy Ivanu Irode Heege fame Rishi was in investigation mode, looking into the circumstances that led to the mysterious disappearance of the son of a sitting MLA. At first, the case seems straight-forward, as the boy was last seen boarding a government-run bus, but when it is then revealed that the said route has not been in operation for a quarter of a century, the tale takes a turn.

Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaararu

Director Keshav Moorthy presented an anthology of three tales – each one about the act of stealing, with the perpetrators and the degree to which they take their thieving ways differing. If one was about a young kleptomaniac couple, another had a man with OCD taking to stealing a particular kind of two-wheeler to make ends meet, while the third was about an elaborate honeytrap con. The film stars Dileep Raj, Shilpa Manjunath, Apoorva Bharadwaj, Prasanna Shetty, among others.
