Malayalam cinema has had a stellar September 2025 with its Onam release of Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra seeing a record-breaking run, followed by Hridayapoorvam. Many of these films, including Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam will be making their digital debut this week. On the other hand, Arjun Ashokan-led Thalavara and Jeethu Joseph's directorial Mirage are among the Malayalam films expected to make their OTT debut in October 2025 on JioHotstar, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Sony LIV, ZEE5 and other platforms.

Malayalam OTT releases in October 2025

Maine Pyar Kiya - TBA

Young actors Hridhu Haroon and Preity Mukhundhan lead this Malayalam film, blending romance with action and comedy. However, it was released in theatres for Onam along with the biggies of Hridayapoorvam, Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira and Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra. And as expected, did not give any competition to other star-led movies. Despite this, Maine Pyar Kiya is expected to find more viewers upon its digital release

Thalavara - TBA

Actor Arjun Ashokan leads this delightful film, which is a sensitive and beautiful portrayal of a young man suffering from vitiligo. Director Akhil Anilkumar was appreciated for his sincere narrative, while Arjun Ashokan was lauded for his nuanced performance even by actor Mamta Mohandas. Notwithstanding the glowing reviews by critics, Thalavara hardly made a dent at the box office. The makers would be hoping that Thalavara wins the appreciation and love that it rightfully deserves.

Sahasam -TBA

Sahasam took the festivities by storm with its song ‘Onam Mood’ becoming an instant hit with the youngsters, and made it to almost all reels with a fun vibe. The young couple of Sera and Jeevan are at the centre of this film, whose relationship is put to the test when the girl's family plans to get her married off to another person. Amid this, a criminal enters their life, making it a chaotic comedy. Director Bibin Krishna's film features Gouri G Kishan, Ramzan Muhammed along with the senior actors of Narain, Babu Antony, , Aju Varghese, and Baiju Santhosh

Mirage - TBA

Mirage is the latest directorial film of Jeethu Joseph, who is synonymous with Drishyam movies. Mirage features Aparna Balamurali as Abhirami who seeks to find truth behind her her fiance Kiran’s death. Asif Ali joins her as an online journalist in the film, along with actors Hakkim Shajahan, Hannah Reji Koshy, and Deepak Parambol. Mirage has not been able to match the brilliance of Drishyam but is expected to find more traction in the online space.

Pharma

Pharma marks the web series debut of Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly. Helmed by PR Arun, the series revolves around a middle-class youth who ventures into the pharmaceutical industry. Pharma was speculated to make its big release in September but that did not happen. Bollywood actor Rajit Kapoor is the other notable lead in the cast, which also includes Narain, Shruti Ramachandran and Veena Nandakumar
