With July nearing its end, and only 10 days left, Tamil cinema seems to be holding some big releases in the upcoming month of August. With no doubts, Coolie is one among them, as the Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj film is an eagerly anticipated one. But here are the other films that are expected to drop on OTT platforms in August.

3BHK – TBD

Directed by Sri Ganesh, 3BHK is a family drama about a middle-class family of four who strive hard to achieve their only collection dream; to buy a house of their own. The film stars Sarathkumar and Devyani as parents, while Siddharth and Meetha Ragunath play their children. Chaithra Achar is also part of the film. The film explores the different stages of the family members’ lives, as they get past each obstacle to make it to their dream.

Paranthu Po – JioHotstar

Paranthu Po is directed by Ram and stars Shiva, Aju Varghese, Grace Antony, Mithul Ryan and others. The slice-of-life comedy drama features a day of adventure in a father and son’s lives as their mother is away for work. The duo’s journey takes them to places and meet new people, away from their bustling city life, as they begin to understand the freshness outside the constraints of a regular life.

Phoenix - TBD

Phoenix is a sports action drama written and directed by Anl Arasu. The film marks the debut of Vijay Sethupathi's son, Surya. Phoenix also features Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Varsha Viswanath, Devadarshini, Abi Nakshatra, Sampath Raj, Muthukumar, Dileepan, Ajay Ghosh, Harish Uthaman, Munnar Ramesh, Naveen, Rishi, Nandha Saravanan, Aadukalam Murugadoss, , Sreejith Ravi, Aadukalam Naren and others.

Oho Enthan Baby – Netflix

Oho Enthan Baby is a romantic comedy drama starring Rudra in his debut and Mithila Palkar in her first Tamil film. Produced by Vishnu Vishal who also makes an appearance in the film as himself, Oho Enthan Baby talks about an aspiring filmmaker’s love life. As he goes to pitch a story to the actor, the protagonist begins to tell his own love story as he must make a way to resolve his past issues. The film also features Anju Kurian, Mysskin, Redin Kingsley, Karunakaran, Geetha Kailasam, Balaji Sakthivel and others.

Maareesan – Netflix

Maareesan is a thriller featuring actors Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu in the lead roles. The film is directed by Sudheesh Sankar and written by V Krishna Moorthy. It marks the second collaboration of the lead actors after Maamannan. Maareesan has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and is about an Alzheimer’s patient who is followed by a man with the aim to rob off his money. But destination has other plans for the two men. Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, P.L Thenappan, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbiah, Krishna, Haritha, Telephone Raja are part of the cast.

Thalaivan Thalaivii – TBD

Thalaivan Thalaivii, directed by Pandiraaj, features Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen in the lead roles. The romantic family entertainer is about a married couple who seem to get into fights, as their relationship takes a sour turn. The cast of the film are Yogi Babu, Mynaa Nandhini, Saravanan, Kaali Venkat, Deepa, Roshini Haripriyan and others.
