#MyKeralaStory: Oscar winner Resul Pookutty's new hashtag to counter hate takes internet by storm
The hashtag has now become a huge hit on the internet and stories have been pouring from across the world

Sudipto Sen's The Kerala Story might have portrayed God's Own Country as a state teeming with terrorists and as a ticking time bomb, but people across the world are coming together to prove that that's not the case. It all began after Oscar winner Resul Pookutty created a new hashtag to share stories about love and compassion from the state. The trend #MyKeralaStory has now become a huge hit on the internet. He had written, "Guys if you have your own story of #brotherhoodinKerala share it here under the #MyKeralaStory (sic)."
A number of people have shared their stories of compassion and brotherhood from the state. Replying to the hashtag, Carnatic musician TM Krishna shared his fond memory, "Singing in innumerable temples across the length and breath of Kerala for over two decades and always having people who belong to diverse faiths sharing in the music. People from whom I learnt a lot! Will be singing Guru in Kollam tomorrow #MyKeralaStory (sic)."
To which Resul Pookutty replied, "#MyKeralaStory I had the good fortune to listen to you singing Guru’s poems, a rare feat. You have been vocal about the idea of inclusivity. One of the rare and sane voices in our country… thank you for sharing (sic)."

Resul Pookutty, who won the Oscar for Best Sound Mixing and Best Original Song, for Slumdog Millionaire also cited the example of fellow Oscar winner AR Rahman and how he always chooses love in his life. Interestingly, Rahman, too, had shared a video of a Hindu couple who got married in a mosque in Kerala. Rahman had captioned the video, "Bravo love for humanity has to be unconditional and healing (sic)."
In the meantime, the shows of The Kerala Story are being stopped across Kerala and Tamil Nadu after protests marred the screenings. However, the film is doing well in the northern part of the country.
