Majili, the relationship drama, directed by Shiva Nirvana, remains one of the high points in the career of Naga Chaitanya, that extracted a fine, intense performance from the star. He was to reunite with the producers of Majili, Shine Screens, for a film again, to be directed by Vijay Kanakamedala, though the project was put on the backburner for miscellaneous reasons.

The Bangarraju star was the chief guest for the teaser launch of Ugram, Shine Screens’ next, directed by Vijay Kanakamedala, starring Allari Naresh. He was all praise for the team and expressed confidence on the film’s box office potential going by the teaser. “While I met the producers recently, I caught a glimpse of Ugram’s teaser. I only had one word to say - adiripoindi (terrific),” he said.

“I always wondered how would Naresh reinvent himself after a meaningful, intense film like Naandhi. With a title like Ugram, a powerful subject and a director like Vijay, he couldn’t have asked for anything more. Vijay Kanakamedala-Allari Naresh’s combo has become a brand to reckon with, and I am sure they’ll score big at the big office yet again,” Naga Chaitanya shared.

“Having watched Naandhi, I always believe that commercial films with the right amount of realism can create wonders in theatres. I and Vijay discussed many ideas recently and we share a wonderful rapport. I associated with Shine Screens for Majili and I know how far they can go to ensure a quality product. Majili is my career best and one of my most satisfying films,” he opined.

Going by Naga Chaitanya’s words, it seems certain that he’ll team up with Vijay Kanakamedala soon, though it’s hard to predict the timing, given the actor’s commitments. Much like Allari Naresh, he’ll also be seen in the khaki avatar for his next, Custody, a Telugu-Tamil bilingual, directed by Venkat Prabhu. He is touted to join hands with director Tharun Bhascker for a cop drama as well.
