Naga Chaitanya’s first release in 2023, the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Custody, is about two months away from a grand release in summer. Set to hit screens on May 12, the film stars Krithi Shetty, Arvind Swami, Priyamani in key roles and is helmed by Venkat Prabhu. While the film marks the Tamil debut of Chaitanya, it’s also the director’s first straight film in Telugu as well.

Produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi under Srinivasaa Silver Screen, Custody, which will have music by Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja, is an action thriller made on a lavish scale with top-notch technicians from multiple industries. While the film was in the news recently for a song shot across seven sets in the same studio, Naga Chaitanya confirmed that he’s wrapped his portions for Custody today.

In a video released by the makers, the director, on a lighthearted note, claimed that Naga Chaitanya is relieved from the team’s ‘custody’. In response, Chaitanya and his co-star Krithi said they were gearing up to take audiences into their ‘custody’ on May 12. The first glimpse of the film, the character posters and other promotional material have received encouraging responses already.

Sampath Raj, Sarathkumar, Premgi Amaren, Vennela Kishore and Premi Vishwanath essay other important roles in the film. Abburi Ravi pens the dialogues for the thriller which has cinematography by SR Kathir. Rajeevan is the production designer and DY Satyanarayana is the art director respectively. The lead pair, Naga Chaitanya and Krithi Shetty, earlier paired up for Bangarraju.

After Custody, Naga Chaitanya is likely to be seen next in Dhootha, Amazon Prime Video’s horror show that also stars Parvathy, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Prachi Desai and Tharun Bhascker in key roles. The web series is directed by Vikram K Kumar, with whom Chaitanya collaborated for the coming-of-age drama Thank You and the multistarrer Manam.
