Brahmastra marked Nagarjuna and Amitabh Bachchan’s latest collaboration together. The duo had first shared the screen in the 1992 Mukul S. Anand directorial Khuda Gawah, which also starred Sridevi. Nagarjuna recently opened up about the film, and why he said yes to the movie.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, he revealed that he was a huge fan of Bachchan, and Big B’s involvement was one of the biggest reasons he said yes to the film. The Tollywood actor said that he had not even listened to the whole script properly. When the film’s director had contacted him, he had said yes immediately when he realised that Bachchan was a part of the film too. “ I just said ‘I am doing it’. Huge fan(of Bachchan) since childhood”, he added.

After Khuda Gawah, the duo had also shared the screen in films such as Manam(2014) and Agni Varsha(2002). They recently appeared in Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus, Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva. Nagarjuna recounted how he used to go visit Bachchan on set in Hyderabad to say hello. Opening up about Brahmastra, Nagarjuna said he was not surprised by the film’s success. He recounted how he was taken aback by Mukerji’s clarity in vision for the film, and said that he had asked how the director was going to pull it off. Praising Mukerji, Nagarjuna said that the former was able to bring the film to the silver screen in a fantastic way.

It seems that Mukerji’s almost decade long work to get the film made has paid off, as Brahmastra raked in almost Rs 300 crores at the worldwide box office almost a week after its release, according to a recent social media post by producer Karan Johar.

In addition to Nagarjuna and Bachchan, Brahmastra also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles. The fantasy adventure film was released in theatres on September 9.
