Narappa- Amazon Prime
Narappa is the remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil movie Asuran that originally starredDhanush and Manju Warrier. Narappa has veteran actors like Venkatesh, Priyamani and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. Venkatesh plays Narappa, a seemingly naive man who has to resort to violence once more to protect his family. The film tackles caste oppression and discrimination too. Narappa is directed by Srikanth Addala who returns post a five year hiatus after his last film Brahmotsavam. Narappa will release on July 20.
Virata Parvam- Netflix
The villain from Baahubali is turning revolutionary in this period drama. Set in the Naxal uprising during the 90’s in Telangana, Rana Daggubati plays a powerful Comrade Ravanna in Virataparvam. This time he is paired with Sai Pallavi who was last seen playing the powerful character of Sumathi in Paavai Kadhaigal. Priyamani plays the role of Comrade Bharathakka. The film is written and directed by Venu Udugula.
Maestro- Disney+Hotstar
Maestro is the remake of Andhadhun, a 2018 Bollywood film that stars Ayushmann Khuranna, Radhika Apte and Tabu in pivotal roles. In the remake, Nithin plays the blind pianist who accidentally becomes “witness” to a murder. Tamannaah and Nabha Natesh are cast in the roles played by Tabu and Radhika Apte respectively in the original. The film is directed by Merlapaka Gandhi whose last venture, Krisharjuna Yudham was with Nani. With Maestro, Andhadhun will be remade in three languages. Earlier this year, Tamil actor Thyagarajan announced his plans to remake the film in Tamil named Andhagan with his son Prashanth as the protagonist. In Malayalam, Prithviraj will be seen in the remake titled Bhramam.
Raja Raja Chora-Zee5
Sree Vishnu, who we last saw in Gaali Sampath plays a quirky engineer student/ thief in this rom-com. Megha Akash will be seen playing the lead actress in the film. The teaser opens with the much ridiculed lines of self-proclaimed godman Nithyananda. This small-time thief will inevitably fall in some trap and the film is likely to be a narration of how he escapes it. The teaser looks promising and funny with the charm of the recent Jathi Rathnalu. The movie is directed by Hasith Goli and will stream on Zee5.
Kanabadutaledu-Spark OTT
Telugu actor Sunil is known for his comical roles in films like Maryada Rammanna and Ala Vaikunthapurramlo. But in this Balaraju venture he is seen playing a cool headed detective in the midst of gory murders.
Drushyam 2-Disney+Hotstar
Drushyam 2 is the remake of Malayam film Drishyam 2. Venkatesh, Meena and Esther reprises their role from the prequel. The story picks up after its prequel and narrates how Rambabu and his family will survive in the midst of continuous police interrogation and crooked plans to entrap them in lies. Actor Sampath Raj will play the role of police officer Murali Gopi played in Malayalam.
