“Here we begin…” – that’s how director Shaji Kailas announced that his much-awaited film, featuring Mohanlal in the lead, has gone on floors. The movie, which is produced by Antony Perumbavoor and scripted by Rajesh Jayaram, will mark the teaming up of the two stalwarts of the industry after 12 years.

Mohanlal had earlier this month announced that he and Shaji would be reuniting through a social media post that was shared widely. The actor said that he’s excited and happy to announce the film and it’s “going to be worth the wait”.

It’s still unclear if the movie will be an OTT or theatrical release but considering that theatres in Kerala are expected to reopen soon and the hype of a Mohanlal-Shaji Kailas film, the major bet would be that the film will open in cinema halls. The duo had earlier worked in blockbusters such as Aaraam Thampuran and Narasimham.

Mohanlal, meanwhile, already has Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham and Aaraattu in line for theatrical releases. He has also finished shooting for Prithviraj Sukumaran’s feel-good movie Bro Daddy and is currently shooting for Jeethu Joseph’s 12th Man. The actor is also rumoured to be part of Odiyan director VA Shrikumar’s Bollywood movie Mission Konkan, which also reportedly has Randeep Hooda in a pivotal role. The superstar is also training for Priyadarshan’s upcoming boxing film.

Meanwhile, Shaji Kailas was in the midst of completing the shoot of Kaduva, which has Prithviraj in the lead. The movie, scripted by Jinu Abraham, has the actor playing a planter and is touted to be a ‘mass’ action entertainer set in the 90s.
