Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who has tried his hands at comedy with his upcoming film Jogira Sa Ra Ra Ra, reveals what made him take up the film and why he did not have to prepare for his character.

Nawazuddin told OTTplay, "Comedy comes very naturally to me because I have done around 150 plays during my days at the National School of Drama. Rajpal (Yadav) was my batchmate, and together with him, I have done many comedy plays on stage. When I came to Mumbai, I realised that Rajpal was still getting comedy roles in Hindi films, and I was getting intense, performance-oriented characters. I have no complaints, but since the beginning of my career, I never got to do comedy, whereas in school, I was a comedy actor. I think that as an actor, comedy comes quite effortlessly to me."

Speaking about Jogira Sa Ra Ra Ra, Nawaz actor said, "When the script came to me, I agreed to do the film because I got a chance to do comedy as well as play a character that I could build on set. Timing is everything in comedy, and that has a lot to do with your co-actor. I had to prepare a lot for films like Raman Raghav, Manto, and Thackeray. But with Jogira Sa Ra Ra Ra, everything was about spontaneity and improvisation. Comedy is tough, and the challenge was to make it look effortless. And that comes from timing."

The story of the film revolves around a matchmaker named Jogi Pratap and how he gets involved with a girl named Dimple Chaubey, who wants to marry him. But Jogi doesn't want to marry her. What follows sets the basic storyline of the film.

Nawazuddin shares screen space with Neha Sharma, Sanjay Mishra, Zarina Wahab, and Mimoh in the film.

Directed by Kushan Nandi, Jogira Sa Ra Ra Ra releases in theatres on May 26.
