The Costao actor was first recognized for his role in Gangs of Wasseypur as the second installment, Gangs of Wasseypur 2. Today, Anurag Kashyap has quit Bollywood and Nawazuddin Siddiqui is not open to as many projects as he once was. The actor attributes the same to Bollywood's remake culture. Why did Anurag Kashyap quit Bollywood? Nawazuddin Siddiqui spills

During his recent interview with Puja Talwar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui spoke about how Bollywood is obsessed with copying content rather than doing any original work. He attributed this as the reason why filmmaker Anurag Kashyap quit the industry. "And then actors and directors start quitting — like Anurag Kashyap, who was bringing in good work," Nawazuddin shared. Interestingly, superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan also went on a long break before returning to Bollywood in recent times. While SRK made his comeback with Pathaan, Aamir Khan is set to be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par. The latter, though, is the sequel to his own film, Taare Zameen Par. Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 is currently performing better than most recent movies, including Salman Khan's Sikandar, at the Box Office.

When Anurag Kashyap had confirmed he quit Bollywood

"I’ve left Mumbai. I want to stay away from film people. The industry has become too toxic. Everyone is chasing unrealistic targets, trying to make the next Rs 500 or Rs 800 crore film," Kashyap had told The Hindu. This directly hinted at distributors investing in movies only to chase the next Box Office record, rather than focusing on content-driven film.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Anurag Kashyap's collaboration

Almost jet-starting their career together with Gangs of Wasseypur, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Anurag Kashyap became a genre in itself. Their fans wished to see them in raw and rustic movies, and they delivered the same years later with Raman Raghav 2.0. The two later acted in the same film, Haddi (2023) before Kashyap called it quits.
