The actress is part of several much-anticipated films, across south languages, such as Yash-starrer Toxic and Mammootty-Mohanlal’s Patriot. Toxic

Release date: March 19, 2026

Kannada star Yash is set to make a big splash at the cinemas with his upcoming film Toxic, which had kicked up a storm on social media after the teaser was released. Toxic director Geetu Mohandas became the fodder for memes after the teaser release. Still, the audiences are waiting to see how Toxic, with a tagline A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups) will unfold on the big screen. Nayanthara’s character in the Yash-starrer was introduced as Ganga.

Patriot

Release date: April 23, 2026

Nayanthara returns to her home industry of Malayalam with Patriot, starring both Mammootty and Mohanlal. The film, touted to be an espionage thriller, is helmed by Mahesh Narayanan. Nayanthara’s poster from the film was the first to be revealed on January 25. The film also features Fahadh Faasil, Rajiv Menon, and Kunchacko Boban, among others.

Another Malayalam film, but it will see Nayanthara in the lead along with her Love Action Drama star Nivin Pauly who is said to be making an extended cameo. George Philip Roy and Sandeep Kumar are directing the film, which features Redin Kingsley, Mallika Sukumaran, Jagadish, Lal, Sharaf U Dheen, Aju Varghese, and Johny Antony. The film is also touted to be a summer release, but it is get announce an official update.

Mookuthi Amman 2

Nayanthara is back as Mookuthi Amman (a goddess) in the sequel to the 2020 film. Sundar C is directing the film, which will also feature Urvashi, Duniya Vijay, Regina Cassandra, and Yogi Babu. Mookuthi Amman 2 wrapped up shooting earlier this month, but a release date is yet to be announced. Though announced as sequel, the upcoming Tamil film is said to follow a different narrative and will not have any connection to the first film’s story.

Hi movie

Another upcoming Tamil movie of Nayanthara is Hi, also starring Kavin, marking their first collaboration. Lyricist-turned-filmmaker Vishnu Edavan is helming the project, which promises to be a wholesome entertainer with a romantic tale. The film is yet to officially get a theatrical release date, but the streaming partner has already been announced. The Nayanthara-Kavin film will stream on Zee5 via OTTplay Premium after its theatrical run.

Mannangatti Since 1960

One of Nayanthara's pending projects is Mannangatti Since 1960, which wrapped up shooting way back in May 2024 and is yet to be released. YouTuber Dude Vicky directed the film, which also stars Yogi Babu. The other cast members include Devadarshini, Gouri Kishan, and Narendra Prasath. Online trackers claim that the film could release in May or June this year, but the makers have not made an official announcement.
