Following the overwhelming success of the limited series on Jeffrey Dahmer, Netflix has decided on expanding the Monster franchise with two additional instalments. The 2022 ten-episode centred on the notoriety of the American serial killer was titled Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and the streaming giant announced a short while ago that a new anthology series in the works to "tell the stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society”.

Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan will return as creators of the two upcoming 'Monster' instalments, the same Netflix announcement said. Veteran writer Ryan Murphy, who is best known for creating a varied kind of shows like Glee, American Horror Story, Feud, 9-1-1, American Horror Stories, and the recent Netflix The Watcher, entered a $300 Million deal with Netflix in 2018 and through Dahmer, he has co-delivered one of the biggest successes of the platform to date. Reportedly, Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is about to reach 1 Billion viewing hours since its release on September 21, 2022.

Ian Brennan has worked closely with Murphy in the past and co-created the shows Glee, The Politician (also including Brad Falchuk as one of the creators), Dahmer, and The Watcher.

Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story chronicles the life and times of the late American serial killer and is largely told from the perspective of his many victims. The ten-part series also shed light on the political and racial apathy at the time which allowed Dahmer to remain rampant for close to 15 years before he was eventually apprehended in 1991. Although the show went on to be hugely popular, the show drew flak from several viewers and also the families of the real-life victims who cited that the makers lacked compassion. Evan Peters stars in the titular role.

In the same vein, Netflix will be renewing the Naomi Watts - Bobby Cannavale starring mystery series The Watcher for the second season. Based on the novel The Haunting of a Dream House by Reeves Weideman, the first season explores the ominous dealings of The Brannocks whose moving into their dream home goes awry. Despite mixed reviews, The Watcher is currently one of the most viewed shows on Netflix. Murphy and Brennan will return as the creators.
